Competition this Saturday

23 April 2008
The Ulster Bank Cup competition for Juniors will start at 10.30am on Saturday at the Moyola Bridge in Castledawson.

The Gribbin House Cup will also be up for grabs for senior anglers.

Latest reports from the river have indicated that some early dollaghan have entered the river, with one angler reporting a trout in excess of 2lb.

Next Saturday, May 3 anglers are invited along to the 'Banks of the Ballinderry Fair'.

The event which is being run by the Ballinderry Fish Hatchery in partnership with the WWF [click here for more info] as part of the RIPPLE project will start at 12.00pm and run until 5.00pm.

This is your chance to get up close and personal with the river, with activities including river crafts, the aquarium, water mini beasts, duck race and living history presentation.

And finally but not least: It may be only April, but the clock is ticking for the Wooden Spoon.

There's no need for panic yet to try and catch a Moyola Salmon... but anglers are urged keep an eye out for Spoon-contenders attempting to take 'catching' a salmon to a whole new level as seen in the video below.
