Salmon release rule passed at AGM

Monday, March 1, 2010
A proposal for anglers to release all salmon caught in October, was passed at the club's recent AGM.

The Annuual General Meeting was held on Wednesday, January 27 in the Parish Hall, The Gravel, Castledawson.

We had the biggest turnout in years which was great to see.

Most interesting was the number of new faces and young people present.

Philip Maguire was returned as Club Chairperson with Philip Bradley being elected as Vice Chairperson.

The main factor to come out of the meeting was the uamimous vote in favour of the proposal made by Willie Darragh that no salmon would be killed in October.

This rule will stay in place for four years but will be reviewed each year.

Hopefully this will go some small way to keeping the salmon stocks healthy in the Moyola.

All members, day ticket holders and complimentary permit holders must observe this new rule which replaces all other rules on salmon bag limits during October each year.
