Moyola angling association Open day 2012

Our open day this year was a great success with 80 children in attendance.

I think I am correct in saying that each child caught a fish.

I would like to thank Glyn McGarry, PSNI Wildlife branch for all the hard work he put in to secure a grant to get Bradleys Lake back to perfect condition, Glyn along with Michael McCrory from Magherafelt  council got the funding in place to get the excavation work carried out.

The committee of Moyola Angling Association for working hard to get the work completed in time for the open day. Bernie, Teresa and Maura for doing all the cooking. Brian for organising the duck race and excellent prizes.

All our sponsors,   ,D C A L for supplying the fish,  Tobermore Concrete, Creagh Concrete, Heron Bros Draperstown, Stanley Aspinal, Patsy McCann, McLean Fuels Magherafelt, Robert Hueston, Craigmore trout fishery, Turnaface Fishery, Crawfords Tackle Maghera,  John Carmichael World of owls, Sean Henry and his mate James who painted our site office, and anyone who helped us in any way to make this a special day to remember for all those children.

Our Competition on Sunday was a good days craic and banter, Competition secretary  Tommy McGrath made a presentation to Henry McGlone ,Marie Curie Cancer Care for £150.

First place in this competition was Philip Maguire, 2nd Was Brian Bigmore.

This lake is something for the club to be very proud of and deserves respect and care in order for it to remain an excellent asset for the future. In order to try to maintain this Bradleys Lake is now open to Moyola members only and The lake is fly only and total catch and release. This is to try to preserve the stocks and encourage our juvenile members to enjoy the art of fly fishing.
