Tuesday, November 3, 2009
A Sperrin mountain lough which feeds the
is at the centre of a major wind turbine row.
Lough Patrick, familiar to many of our more adventurous anglers, and situated about three miles outside Draperstown, is an ancient pilgrimage site.
However proposals by a cross-community group from outside the Ballinascreen parish, to site a 180-metre wind turbine on the shores of this picturesue lough has sparked local controversy.
Friends of Lough Patrick, a pressure group opposing the turbine, say they are not opposed to wind turbine's, but believe that such a sacred site must be preserved.
