The Fermanagh Reporter
Robert Paul showed us all a thing or to about still water fishing while lifting first place for the heaviest bag over the weekend and all were returned.
Willie Darragh the big fish specialist did it again with a fine fish of 3lb 1 oz to take the spectrum cup. Having the same gillie as last year always improved Willie's chances.
Speedy and Tom with a total of 192 years experience between them showed the younger members of the club exactly how "NOT" to do it. They managed to launch the boat with no one in it, apparently Tom was told to hold the rope, next of all they sunk the boat trailer,(please refer to photos while reading this). The last mistake these veterans of Angling made was to forget to put the bung in the back of the boat before launching it. Therefore the unmanned adrift boat started to fill with water, unfortunately for Sean he had left his new life jacket in the bottom of the unmanned adrift and now sinking boat. These new type life jackets a wonder of modern technology inflate on contact with water, needless to say Speedy was not a happy bunny for the rest of the day,but he did manage to get the soft seat in the front once again. And even caught a few fish without stealing another competetors fly.
Mervyn managed to land a couple of fish this time, Speedy was his gillie. Running out of yellow cards for Joey, he tried to way in foreign objects and half a bag of water along with his fish.
Patsy Harkin brought the waders with the holes in them, so he tried to dry them out on the towbar of his car but forgot to lift them when he got home so if anyone finds a black and white and a brown sock around Fermangh then their Patsy's.
A big thanks to Joey, Stanley, Patsy and guests Tom and Aidan for providing the music but wee Tom stole the show.
Brian Bigmore managed to stay out of the water this time.
Well done to juniors Jason and John who did very well over the weekend. John McCombs is still learning the words to 'old dogs and children and watermelon win' .....maybe next year!!!
A big thanks to Bernie and Philip for all their help and cooking over the weekend.
Finally,Chrissy Gilmore and Big Jack Chapman also need a mention, mainly for their inability to land a trout.."I'll never be back" exclaimed the big man at the weigh in on Saturday evening.
As always our competition secretary fails to be mentioned in the fermanagh reporter. So if anyone has any dirt on Mr Mc Grath please let us know via the website.
