Tommy

"moving up the leader board" . I'm only cantering along at the moment, not even half way around the course,  just cruising along, not even sweating, keeping a close eye on the leaders, waiting to strike at the last fence in October. Just like the National the early leaders seldom succeed, remember last year.
Good theory Patsy. theyall go buck mad at the start. i've noticed you sitting back doing your calculations waiting for the right time to pounce. my moneys on you

Seamey D , with a good rise of trout and your fly tying experience/knowledge of fly hatches  I would have bet on you  identifying and matching the right fly on the night, .. just goes to show -we are  all learning. (I suspect you will have captured a couple of these particular olives for investiagation and this may give you an extra edge on Monday night) . Good to hear of significant  hatches/rises.

Craig.

the club will be holding its annual open day in september/october. there will be a clean up of the pond then.
anyone interested in giving Craig a hand can let him know via the guestbook.

Has anyone been on the river recently.
last night i witnessed the best hatch of flies ever.
there were three different types on the water. Iron blue spinners and two other types of olives which i wasn't able to put a name to. i think one of them was the blue winged olive.
it was fantastic to see the trout gorging on the flies, although i only caught a couple of fish.
seems like my wee dry flies weren't on the menu.

Competition report for 24/5/10.
The Glenview perpetual Cup was fished in better conditions for the fly fisherman for a change.
In 1st place was Seamus Donnelly with a good Trout of 13 ins, in 2nd  place was Tommy Mcgrath and in 3rd place was Patsy Harkin.
There was a very poor turn out of juniors members this time.
Joey Oneill got a yellow card for weighing in a very small Trout,he needs a new measuring stick and new glasses.
The league table has changes again, on 38 points is Tommy Mcgrath,Philip Maguire 37 points Stanley Aspinall 34 points,Joey Oneill 32 points, Adrain Mckay 25points,  Brian Bigmore 24 points Patsy Harkin 22 points, and Seamus Donnelly on 22 points, so a bit of a gap forming at the top of the leader board. Our next competition The Wilbert Pickering Cup is on the 7th of June 7.00pm. Tight lines.
