I would like to thank everyone involved in preparing and organising the open day at Tobermore Pond.  I would also like to thank Brian Hueston one of our associated members from Newtonabbey for donating fishing equipment and prizes which were very much appreciated.  Our last competition is this saturday 24th October at 10.30am.  The Gearld McLarnon Memorial Cup is up for grabs.  The Senior Sportsperson of the Year is also up for grabs with Willie just 2 points in front of Seamie D.

See you all on Saturday.

All our family had a great time at the open day on Saturday.  The School of Falcony show was great fun for the kids.  Great BBQ and the grounds around the pond are very well maintained.  We didn't catch any fish  but I suppose that's a common complaint of fishermen everywhere!!!!!  Thanks for a great day.

On behalf of Three Spires Cub Group Magherafelt I would like to thank the club for looking after the kids and giving them a great day out on Saturday. They all had a great time and for many it was the first time that they had been fishing. A few had the chance to land their first trout and they all loved the birds of prey and the bbq. Thanks to Seamus for  organising the group when we arrived.

As Chairman of Moyola And District Angling Association,I would like to say how delighted we were to see such a huge attendance of boys and girls (87 in total) at our Annual Open Day on saturday at Tobermore Ponds.
I personally would like to express my apprecation to all members who helped to get the ponds ready, and to those who assisted the young people on the day.
I would especially like to thank Seamus Donnelly who stepped in so capably to organise the programme as i was unable to contribute as much as i would have liked on the day.
I feel that our Open Day is very important in the promotian of angling and its success reflects the committment of our menbers to the community and environment.
We were favoured by good  weather and in addition to the introduction to angling the young people enjoyed a Falconry Display, had fun at the Duck Race and had food and refreshments provided.
Thanks to Tommy McGrath who organised the Competition on Sunday when again there was a good turn out and money raised was donated to Jack Chapman on behalf on Downs Syndrome Association.

20 anglers fished for the Heron Bros Cup lasted Saturday, the water was very low on a bright and very windy day with a lot leaves on the water. Few anglers stayed with the fly, most were bait fishing. Seamus Donnelly took 1st place and leaves him just 2 points behind Willie Darragh who took 2nd place,so it is all to play for in the last competition, 3rd place went to Joey O'neill. The best junior went to John Mckay who beat his Da again. Mervyn failed to weigh in again. Sean Henry has the heaviest Dollaghan so far with one competition to go. Peter ONeill last  years worthy winner of the wooden spoon will have his work cut out to find a winner this year as 99% of the club are contenders. Anyone who has cups or trophy can you bring them along to the last competition on the 24th of October
