I would just like to express my thanks to the officers of the Club for all their efforts during the year. I know that Murphy's Law states that complainers always vent their opinions more readily than the contented.so I for one am sending the Committee my appreciation for the huge amount of effort made by them during 2008

I know most people have their waders hung up for the season, but  I would ask our members to keep an eye out for pollution during these winter months.
Just last Sunday, a group of us out electrofishing at Straw, saw a load of bush clippings coming down the river. This has been going on all year, and we were just yards away from catching them in the act on Sunday. If anyone sees this, or there is an area where dumping is going on regularly please post it on to the website and we'll concentrate on these areas.

Enjoyed the dinner-dance but most of all enjoyed being among all my old friends again. Have to say a big thank you to all the moyola men who stood by us when we lost we Tommy. He was not just my Da but also my best friend. Well boys I have to congratulate all the young men and some not so young who keep the club running, the hatchery and so on. If I go to the river at dusk I still expect to here the banter of Seamy Kane & Speedy. I miss Red as him and myself were known as the gadget men (technical advisers). I still see Martin Oneill holding desparetly to the boat down the back of the town wlile still suffering from the night before, these men and other deceased members sadly missed. One night which remember was again behind the town as we were electro fishing in the dark there was a very loud painful cry. Robert Kerr was unfortunate to sit on the spark plug of the generator. Ok lads I will be prepared to come out of retirement and give all the help I can in future.

I suppose you are all sitting around thinking about doing a bit of rainbow-bashing or something like that these days.
A lot of people have expressed interest in cleaning up the river, so to get this started we could have a list of names for the work parties and you can email your phone numbers etc to info@moyolaangling.com
We'll maybe get a few clean-up dates sorted for early in the New Year.
What do ye's think??

Caught a hen fish about 3lbs at Forgetown Bridge on the last day.It was badly net-marked and had a deep cut on it's back near its head.I released it and it swam away strongly but I find the net-marks disturbing.

just caught and released a lovely 6lb hen salmon in the forgetown area.
water is perfect height for  flyfishing, although a very heavy hail storm has brought a lot of leaves onto the water..
