I'm a non-club member, what licenses will I need for a days fishing on the moyola? A rod licence and a day pass?
Yes that is correct Seamus. You can get all the outlets for day permits on this website.

I would like to congratulate those who worked so hard to make the open day a success. A lot of the Club's work is done unseen and thus unappreciated. I think all the anglers owe a debt of gratitude to those who have made the Club successful and admired.

The competition report for The Heron Bros Cup. The winner was Brian Bigmore with a good bag of Trout fishing booth fly and spinner, in 2nd place was Stanley Aspinall bait fishing, and in 3rd place was Rusty Steele who had the heaviest Brown Trout of the season so far at 1lb 8oz and with one competition to go that Trout will be hard to beat. Our best Junior was Luke Stockman with a fine Trout at 13oz, next was Joseph Spiers with a nice Trout at 9oz. Our next competition The Gerard McLarnon Memorial Cup on the 13th of October is our last one of the season. The Gerard Weir Trophy for the heaviest Brown Trout and The Robin McKnight Trophy for the heaviest Dollaghan are still there for the taking on that last day. There will be a Charity Competition this Sunday at Tobermore Ponds for Marie Curie Cancer Care starting at 11.00 and finishing at 3.00 so hope to see you all there. TIGHT LINES.

well done to visiting anglers andrew and sue gibson who were fishing the river for 4 days, first 2 days were spent trout fishing,on the 3rd day sue managed to catch a lovely wild trout estimated at a pound and a half.On the last day after catching several trout each and the river on the rise we rigged up the salmon gear, first run down the pool andrew hooked his first ever salmon and after 15 to 20mins we landed the fish lovely hen salmon in the 10lb bracket. With the river rising we headed down stream and not to be out done sue was into what at first we thought was a salmon until it showed,a lovely dollaghan mabe 5 or 6lb on the same fly but unfortunatley after a minute or so the fish slashed at the surface and got of.Well done andrew and sue, tight lines ciaran.

Sorry to sound like a cracked record, but the stream at Polepatrick was again running milky-grey yesterday evening-17th September. It had been a little unclear last week but it was much worse yesterday.

The competition report for the Harold Hueston Cup fished for on Saturday the 1st of September. A good turn out for a Saturday with 17 seniors and 3 juniors out. Conditions were not good for the fly fisherman with a very changeable wind all day with a lot of small leaves on the water. In 1st place once again was Barry Diamond with his 7th win of the season on the worm and with 2 competition to go Barry can not be caught in our league this season, in 2nd place was Wesley McClenaghen bait fishing, and myself in 3rd place on the Fly. The league table has Barry on 115 points, Philip and myself are on 93 points each, and Brian and Patsy on 66 points each, so its a fight for 2nd place and that trip to Alaska. Our next competition the Heron Bros Cup is on the 22nd of September. Tight Lines.
