Ciaran,i your response to patsy on the 21/9/08,you say that female parr can spawn in years when numbers of adult hens are low.this is not correct,it is the precocious male parr which can fertilize adult hens.just wanted to point that out.

he sure did angler,and beauty of a hen it woz,,as he gently rested her on top of the water and she swam back into the river..probably 4 some other angler 2 have fun trying 2 catch her....ps...along with emmet, myself you and all club members we can read what is written on the license....

HOWS IT GOING LADS.JUST A WEE MENTION I WAS OUT FISHING TODAY AT THE FORGETOWN WATER WAS VERY CLEAN NO SALMON BUT HAD MIGHTY SPORT FISHING FOR TROUT,PROBLEM IS THE UNSIGTHLY STATE OF THE PLASTIC BAGS,SILAGE COVERS ETC HANGING ON BRANCHES AND ON THE BED OF THE RIVER WHAT A MESS,BASICLY A GOOD CLEAN UP JOB IS NEEDED ANY LIKE TO GIVE ME A HAND IN DOING SO GET IN TOUCH,HOPEFULLY BEFORE NEXT OPENING SEASON,PS IS THERE ANY WORD ON THE SIGNS THAT WERE TO GO UP THEY COULD BE USEFUL TOO.TIGHT LINES CIARAN.

IF U DID U CAN GET THE PART FROM HARDY/GREYS FOR A SMALL FEE,GO ON THE HARDY/GREYS WEB SIGHT FOR DETAILS.IF U HAVE NO WARRENTY THEY CAN SEND U A SECTION FOR UR ROD SHOULNT BE TO DEAR,HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL BEST REGARDS CIARAN.

first of all im of the list yipee got a lovely 5lb salmon above tobermore sun past would have returned it only it was bleeding to badley had a dollaghan just over 2lb returned it this fish had already spawned !had a great days fishing. i also had a vister to the river who had only ever fished once before he had a dollaghan about 1 1/4lb hooked and lost a salmon and them hooked and landed a 4 1/2lb salmon at curran bridge not a bad start to his fishing career. any how the fellow anglers that are not of the list yet patsey,peter,dd,to name but a few, lads my friend who has only started this fishing thing is available for lessons next sun morn for a couple of hours if in dire straights get in touch by the usual method, regards fellow anglers

anyone know where i can get my rod mended? closed it in the car door and took off about six inches of the top of the piece of the rod that the reel is on! its a three piece grays fly rod

demeo,good to here a fish or two being caught,i take it that one of the fish emmet got was put back as all anglers know that printed on the back of the club cards it states that only one salmon to be taken in october ?.

woz up at johnston,s 2day,2 good salmon caught,,but i never saw a sight like it........emmet hooked his 2nd salmon but a mait of his had taken the net on up the river,,wat a sight,,unreal...emmet then lodged the rod over the fence and gave the line some slack and then went as nice as u like up the river bank got the net back and came back an played the fish and landed it...totally unreal....lol..

first of all i wood like 2 say that im not 2 bothered about a wooden spoon because if get it its going straight in the fire were it belongs?lol hi blears not much craic give us a ring til i here the craic with u??and lastly i wood just like 2 say what a good days craic i had at the compition at the ponds really enjoyed it and thanks 2 willy 4 the food?tight lines lads

seamus dont be jealous if u are having problems in catching these rainbows why not ask myself or sean to help u catch one or two of them perhaps the ancient art of worming or good old reliable sweet corn get in touch soon lol

Kenny, I am assuming that as there are also brown trout in the pond that we can only fish up to 31st of October ,thereafter the lucky bows and brownie survivors will probably have a well earned four month break from anglers to do their fishy things.
Some of the other boys may confirm this. But it raises a good point. If the ponds are closed as usual along with the river then prehaps a sign clearly saying so, or whatever, is needed as rainbows in the pond could easily confuse some anglers , leading in the worst case to anglers carrying rods close to or along the river, during the closed season, for access, with obvious problems. I think this could happen quite innocently but must be avoided .
