Competition Report for the Gearld McLarnon Memorial Cup fished on Saturday the 15th October. Once again the river was in a brown flood and suited the bait men again. In first place with a dollaghan of 4lb 12oz and a salmon of 2lb was Cathal Cleary. This was the heaviest dollaghan in competition this season. In second place was Philip Maguire wit a nice bag of trout on the worm. In third place was Brian Bigmore with 4 trout. This leaves Philp the overall winner of the league - so well done to Philip. Our best junior was Ethan Steele with two nice trout, in second place was Darren Sheridan with one nice trout. A big thanks to Philip Maguire for making the lovely soup, it was very much appreciated on a cold and wet day. Tight lines.

Now that the season is nearly over, we need to get our Hatchery in order and do a few repairs.
The filter tower is cracked from the heavy frost last year and needs fixed.
This Saturday 22nd we hope to carry out this work so we need as many able bodied men as possible to help.
Be up at hatchery for 9 30am. Anyone whos not sure where it is contact Mervin.
ps well done Wesley, a pair of lovely fish.

Competition Secretarys Report
A couple of mistakes in my last report, I had Lesley McClenaghan down for the heaviest salmon so far this season when it should have been Damien Stewart who caught a 7lb salmon at our annual charity competition and also I had Lucinda Evans down for the heaviest dollaghan trout this season when it should have been Tanya Steele who had a 1lb 10oz dollaghan at our Harold Hueston Competition earlier this season. My apologies for these.
The Gerald McLaren Memorial Cup is up for grabs this saturday so maybe there will be a few big fish at this one. The One Salmon Rule in October night cause a few problems on Saturday - am sure we will sort this out on the day!!!

The season is closing in once again
and things are quite tense while we wait.
Will Philip hang on or Tommy nip in
who will succeed - the fly or the bait.
Although they prentend it's not important to them
you could cut the air with a knife.
Friendship's on hold till the end of the month
you couldn't live with Philip - just ask his wife!
As for everyone else in the comp
we're now just fishing to help pass the time
We'll all gather round for the final weigh in
Tommy could do it - if he doesn't BITE THE LINE!
The bookies are taking the bets up till then
as the result is right down to the wire.
They're giving 4/1 for McGrath at the min
and even money for Philip Maguire.
So may the best man win at the end of the day
as another season has gone in a blink.
And just so you know as the champ is announced
the loser buys everyone else there a drink!
(that really puts the pressure on Tommy) ;-p
