Can anyone recommend any spots around Castledawson for bait fishing as a few of us are heading that direction for the first time this weekend?
Tony
last monday nights competition was won by philip maguire who had two good trout with his first worm just below the bridge in Castledawson. There's plenty of trout right along this stretch. give the pool at the disabled stands a throw as well, you'll find it down below the bridge.

Dessie.
Its hard to get a trout at the minute on the fly. its still cold in the evenings and the fish will probably be lying deep.
if you can get down to them with a gold head or tungsten head hares ear nymph you'll have a better chance.
Other good all year round flies are the "iron blue dun", "greenwells glory" and a "black pennell."
Hope this Helps.

Kevin haven't got a clue about the black heads, sorry
