Can’t possibly comment on the league result until the results of the official inquiry and sanctions are made public. Reference- shirt removal , dancing and singing? at 5.13. pm and 31 seconds Sat 24th October 8.31 metres south of Castledawson Bridge. ;)

Spoon Flu - time is running out for those suffering from this terrible affliction. Congrats on your big fish Mickey O'K, got a nice hen fish about 5lb myself this evening [Wed], in a wee pool that's hard to find!! On Monday - Greg and Sean English landed fish, and Paul Foley pulled one out from under Speedy's nose. Brian Bigmore got one as well on Wed. Weir was loaded with fish today. Keep the reports coming here....

caught and released a 13-14lb salmon today, got on a yellow flying c from up the river, not saying where though;) but it was a great fish, put up a real good fight until the line wrapped around it and it was easily tailed.

The last competition of the season the Gerard McLaranon Memorial cup was fished last Saturday in very hard conditions, which give us a great deal of annoying leaves, about 2.30 the river started to rise which finished angling of for the day. 1st place went to Philip Maguire
2nd place went to Seamus Donnelly
And joint 3rd was Stanley Aspinall and Brian Bigmore.
Willie Darragh who was the league leader from the first competition right to the last one was overtaken by Seamus Donnelly on the last competition with a bit over the top celebrations on saturday evening.
The league finished with Seamus Donnelly on 110 points Willie Darragh on 108 points, Tommy Mcgrath on 94 points,Philip Maguire on 88 points, and Stanley Aspinall on 74 points.
Sean Henry wins heaviest Dollaghan competition.
Anthony OHagan wins the heaviest Salmon competition.
Philip Maguire and Seamus Donnelly won the heaviest Trout competition.
The best junior was Nathan Young on 60 points John Mckay on 45 points and Jason Bateson on 40 points.
I would like thank Philip Maguire for all his help this year, and everyone for all the craic and for competing in the competitions this year.

There have been rumours for a time about a Spanish fishing ship off the North coast. Yesterday a Bann Systems bailiff was telling anglers at the Clady river that this was in fact true.
In fact he was able to say that it was in excess of 50 000 tons. Maybe this has some bearing on poor runs of salmon this year!
