After weeks of planning for the start of the 2012 season. I headed off to the River this evening, everything was in order or so i thought. I had left my Flies at home. Fortunately though i had a couple of last seasons flies on my jacket. I managed three nice trout out of one wee spot(not to be published). The fly was a size 10 but the trout took it. Great fighters for this time of the season. They were both over 10" and all were returned. Its great to be back out again

A very disappointing and depressing statement from the minister.
Where is her evidence coming from that leads her to believe anglers kill more salmon than the nets.
Once again Stormont chickens out of making a controversial decision. Remember this next time you vote.

Only 6 days to go to the start of the new season. Please remember bailiffs will be on the river and you need to be in possession of your membership card before fishing.
I have your card ready....just send me the fee and a stamped addressed envelope and you will get it by return post.

hi Eimhear just to clarify, Salmon are allowed to be caught in October but must be returned unharmed to the River just the same as every other Month of the Season.

Hello all, great job to see c/r voted in lets all look after these wonderful fish, dollaghan as well as salmon and dont forget the wee browns as well, look after them all and there will be angling for future, tight lines ciaran.Just on the worm fishing issue, cut the line as close as possible release the fish gently, because the main aim of these salmon is to spawn and most will die after this. The more spawners we have the better .

I now have the new bailiff forms returned from DCAL and ready for presentation at court. If you have not already given me a photo you need to do so now or miss the boat for becoming a bailiff. You can bring photos to the committee meeting next Monday night 20th.

Firstly, sorry I couldnt get to the AGM, had to work that evening. I totally agree with Paul, if anyone knows me here they'll know I mainly fish the worm. But if the river is going to be catch and release for salmon, there should be a total ban on worm fishing. To allow it because of younger anglers makes no sense at all, the same damage will be done. If we are going to do it lads, do it right.

I know where you are coming from Paul and Michael but the A G M is the place where these decisions are taken.
We cannot make new rules now till next years A G M.

Paul..We have to be careful when we implement new rules.. The future of our Club has to be our number one priority, and to allow a young member to catch a fish on a worm makes sense.
